Denkimono – alarm clock/timer kit

by Adam on October 24, 2007

I recently finished putting together my alarm clock/timer kit from Denkimono, it’s a beautiful, high quality, useful kit.

At $67.29 it’s not a cheap kit but well worth it – once your done assembling it you not only have the satisfaction of having put it together your also left with one of the most a unique alarm clocks/timers around, though I wouldn’t go to any airports with it. I received my kit promptly (ships from London) all the parts were well packaged and instructions for assembly of the kit were clear. After assembly I did have a problem with some of the segments not lighting up so I e-mailed Denkimono about the problem, received a prompt reply and through a series of e-mails we were able to get the kit fully functional (part of the problem was my lack of soldering skills). All in all a great kit to build and use. I’d like to get another and see if I can get it in a case.

Check out denkimono.com for a full list of features and a demo video

P.S. – If soldering isn’t your thing Denkimono also offers the kits fully assembled.

Many years ago I repaired a General Electric clock for a friend; it had a keypad for setting the clock but none of the other features of the Denkimono. When I realized the convenience of it all, I tried ,to no avail, buying the clock and offered $100 USD.
I inquired to GE and received no response.

Now comes Denkimono. I hope that this clock does not fall through the slats as they claim to be out of stock at this time ( 01/07/07 ).

I want one badly !!!

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the comment, I e-mailed Mark (who makes the Denkimono clock/timer kit) regarding their availability:

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the email. I’m currently waiting for the suppliers to deliver
the parts for the next batch. I’ve got delivery dates from all but one
so fingers crossed I’ll have some more kits late January/early February.

The new PCBs have a larger gap between the pins and the ground plane so
hopefully it’ll be easier to put together this time. I’m also planning
to release the PIC code so people can make their own mods. Should be
interesting to see what people come up with.

I’ll let you know as soon as I have more in stock.

Thanks,

Mark

So, sounds like they should be available soon!

Hi,

Does Denkimono have stocks available now?
I need to order one unit for a Airsoft Ops Game that will be held at the end of this month.

Thanks,

Jeff

@Jason

Hum. Not sure what to tell ya. This post is rather old and I never really had any affiliation with Denkimono other than buying the clock kit.

@Adam

that’s cool. I understand that you are not affiliated with them. I noticed the posts from Mark. Any chance you want to sell you kit?

Thanks,

Jason
